Was it ever love?

by Ashley
(Iowa)

My girlfriend and I have been together for a little over 2 years; we were inseparable. We got engaged after our one year anniversary, one of the happiest days of my life. We moved in together.

A few months later, she started getting angry and punching things. Told me she didn't love me as much, accused me of cheating on her. She gave my ring back, threatened to leave me so much it became like a routine in every fight.

I cry about it everyday. She tells me to grow up, stop acting like a child. I apologize for everything and this may sound like an obvious sign we need to break up, but I don't think I can give up on what we once had.

What you 'had' is gone, if it ever existed at all. It sounds to me like your girlfriend was putting on an act and let the act slip after the honeymoon period ended.
